Sponsor Electrify

Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Michigan created Electrify Tech Camp in an effort to spark high school students’ interest in STEM, specifically electrical and computer engineering. The purpose is for high school students to learn about ECE, the University of Michigan, and enjoy an advanced program that challenges them to think creatively and stretch the boundaries. Electrify Tech Camp was designed with the following goals in mind:

  • Generate exposure and understanding to what electrical and computer engineering is.
  • Introduce students to advanced program content through exciting, hands-on projects that wouldn’t otherwise be offered at a high school level.
  • Illustrate ECE’s global impact as it directly relates to participants’ everyday lives.
  • Provide a glimpse into the life of Michigan Engineering students while encouraging a collaborative, inclusive, and Michigan Wolverine-centric environment.

Due to the technical nature of these camps, costs are high. Not only are tenured faculty and current graduate students teaching the campers, but the campers will work in actual U-M ECE labs. Just like our undergraduate classes at Michigan, the lab equipment limits the number of students we can admit. In addition, we will be purchasing special kits so each camper will have the experience of building an actual device. And finally – we want to offer as many scholarships as possible so that no student will be turned away due to finances.
